What the page says
_Curator's reading of the capture._
CPO Magazine (English), 26 October, by Scott Ikeda: Amazon's Threat Intelligence group reports probing of the PHP flaws as early as 17 October, three days before the leak and four before public disclosure, so the disclosure that was carefully coordinated to leave time for patching was already known to someone. It says the PHP Foundation had to release patches a day early after pre-release notices and videos reached the Hacker News comments, that Amazon caught multiple attempts on a MadPot honeypot from known anonymisation services with varied payloads, which it takes to mean several actors, and that it is unclear how they knew: either a quieter insider leak to attackers or independent discovery by advanced actors. It adds that the Hacker News leak is thought to have been an employee of a security company with insider access making an honest mistake with the embargo timeline.
> The Hacker News leak is thought to be a case of an employee from a security company that had insider access making an honest mistake with the embargo timeline rather than a malicious effort.
