What the page says

_Curator's reading of the capture._

A security-trade article on CybersecAsia (28 October) by a Fortinet threat-intelligence director on understanding PHP2Shell and reducing risk while patching. It says the flaws affect the PHP runtime, so updating only a CMS or plugin does not fix them; that both score 9.2 on CVSS 4.0; that Censys's 22 October dashboard snapshot showed about 36.7 million internet-facing services reporting potentially affected PHP versions (service counts, not unique servers, possibly including installations already patched through backports); that PHP's project rates mod_php highest risk; that fixed upstream releases are 8.2.35, 8.3.36, 8.4.27 and 8.5.12 and vendors may backport without changing version numbers; and that 8.1 and earlier get no standard releases. It advises assigning an owner and timeline per service, using external attack-surface management to find assets, keeping interim controls until verification and investigating possible compromise.

> Updating only a content management system or plugin does not fix the underlying flaws.

Why it is here
