Digital PR Platform (Japanese), 26 October: a press release by WACA (the Web Analyst Association, Japan) pointing to an explainer it published on 24 October about PHP2Shell for company sites. It says Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae urged action on X on the night of 21 October ('an urgent request that you act tonight') and that many sites, WACA's included, went into emergency maintenance. Its own observation: many small companies could not tell whether their WordPress site was at risk, and sites left unmaintained for years sometimes could not apply the fix in one step. Advice: ask the hosting or management company whether the PHP fix is applied (a normally displaying site does not show it), and for PHP 8.1 and earlier check for a vendor fix and plan a move to a supported version. The same release appears in Niigata Nippo (niigata-nippo-articles-930995).
