#### What the page says

_Curator's reading of the capture._

A UK tabloid explainer (Metro, 22 October) asking how worried ordinary people should be about the PHP flaws. It says about 70% of websites use PHP, that the PHP Foundation announced on Tuesday an update for the following day, that security agencies 'from the UK and the US to China and Japan' called on websites to go dark if they cannot update, and that UK ministers took 32 government services down that day to carry out the fix and announced a 'Be Ready' campaign. It quotes experts: a worry that hackers could reverse-engineer the patches before sites update, a Malwarebytes researcher that attackers can hide behind trusted sites and that a hacked shop's check-out could be edited to skim cards, and a media company's security head that there was still no definite proof the holes had been exploited, so no reason to stop browsing, only to beware suspicious messages. It reports Calif's discovery, OpenAI's remark that the bugs are among the most impactful security issues in recent memory, researchers' reports of 'millions' of attempts, and that the Internet Archive said it was 'attacked' the day before and is back up.

#### Why it is here

From the promotion queue (`index/promote.json`, priority 2): Mentions CVE-2026-109618/109619 or php2shell: "How worried should we be about the PHP cybersecurity crisis? | News Tech | Metro News". Selected mechanically, not read by a person. Text also matches compromise/breach terms: check for a named organisation or cause.

#### Capture notes

Language `en`. General-audience explainer relaying experts and vendors second hand. The Internet Archive's statement of an attack is reported in the same article without a link to PHP2Shell and is not recorded as one. Nothing in the page addresses an AI or hides text from a reader.
