An Italian tech-news piece (TecnoAndroid, 27 October) arguing that the real danger of PHP2Shell is forgotten PHP: installations nobody remembers, PHP bundled inside third-party software and appliances, hosting panels such as cPanel and Plesk that manage their own PHP versions, and containers whose image tags do not guarantee the patch. It gives the patched versions (8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, 8.2.35), the CVSS 4.0 score of 9.2 for both flaws, and a figure of 69.3% of identifiable sites using PHP as of 21 October, and notes that long-term-support distributions may backport fixes without changing the version number.
