It says patches were published on 21 October for the two flaws (9.2 on CVSS), that cyber-security bodies in several countries recommended updating at once, that Chile's National Cybersecurity Agency (ANCI) did the same, and that some governments suspended digital services as a precaution. It quotes Apiux's head of cyber-security Lucas Ovalle on legacy systems that run unsupervised on outdated PHP and on keeping an inventory so that temporary mitigations can be applied while updating, and says per the PHP Foundation one flaw had shown signs in a 2024 audit, and that Calif, OpenAI and Wiz independently demonstrated remote takeover in August with AI tools.
